How it is Done?
At the start of the procedure, the surgeon uses a small tool to remove tissues and cells from the problem area. Specimen is prepared and placed in the container that has formalin or any other solution to conserve it. The sample is then sent to the laboratory for further exploration.
Analysis and Results:
The trained lab assistant looks at the specimen for gross assessment. Gross assessment includes the determination of the sample’s size, color and suspicious parts of the specimen. It is done with the naked eye – without a microscope. After gross examination, the tissue is sliced by using a specialized machine and then looked at under the microscope.
The time required to get the results is not fixed. Accurate assessments can take up to a week so wait patiently. If the test is positive, discuss it with the doctor to find out what to do next.
Cost of Biopsy:
The cost of biopsy depends upon different factors. The patient’s overall health, the reputation of the clinic and expertise of the surgeon can affect the final cost of the treatment so we cannot tell you the exact price without having a face to face conversation with you.
